Beautiful river streams, lush green valleys, exotic wildlife and precariously positioned monasteries paint the landscape of Bhutan. Stay in comfortable hotels and get to interact with the humble locals.
While Flying to Bhutan on a clear day the panoramic views of the Himalaya’s which are sensational, including Everest, but particularly exciting is the approach through the Bhutanese foothills and the landing, including a few steep turns to land at the tiny airstrip of Paro.

Day 1
Arrival in Phuentsholing (1 Hr)
On arrival in Phuentsholing, met by our representative and after clearing immigration formalities, check in at the Hotel.
Later in the day if time permits visit Zangtho Pelri: Situated in city centre, this small temple represents the heaven of Guru Rinpoche.

Day 2
Phuentsholing – Thimphu (180 km, approx 6 hours drive)
After breakfast drive to Thimphu.
En route stop at Kharbandi Gompa, the beautiful monastery situated in garden of tropical plants and flowers. The monastery contains paintings depicting scenes from the life of Buddha and statues of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and Guru Rimpoche. From the monastery garden there is a splendid view of Phuentsholing and plains of West Bengal and their tea gardens beyond.

Proceed further to Thimphu. This entire drive is very pleasant with numerous scenic spots en route.

Day 3
Thimphu sightseeing
In the morning, we will visit handmade paper mill, School of Arts and crafts (closed on Sundays, government holidays) where students learn 13 different arts used predominantly in Bhutan. We will also visit nearby folk heritage museum and national library before lunch. After lunch, drive pass by memorial chorten built in memory of the 3rd King. Visit Buddha viewpoint, Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley, enclosure where national animal, Takin are kept and Zilukha Nunnery.

Day 4
Thimphu to Punakha (2 ½ hrs)

Today’s drive passes through Dochula pass at 3150 making the most beautiful pass in Bhutan. 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens built over the pass by queen mother in 2003 marks the pass more important than another passes. When the weather permits one can enjoy a spectacular view of the highest mountains of Bhutan at a sight that stretches almost 180 degrees. After a photo break, we will continue our drive to warm valley of Punakha. On arrival, check into the hotel. Afternoon, we will visit the most beautiful Punakha Dzong, which houses the most elaborated temple in the country. The Dzong, showcase the finest example of the arts and crafts of Bhutan.

Day 5
Punakha Sightseeing

After our leisurely breakfast, enjoy the beautiful Punakha valley. We will hike to Khamsum Yulay Namgyal Chorten, which will take about 45 mins to reach on the top. Then we will visit Punakha Suspension Bridge. Later in the afternoon if you wish we can visit farm house or you are free to pick anything that interest you based on time. Later drive to hill of Walakha and visit Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup nunnery.

Day 6
Phunakha to Paro (5 hrs)

Start early retracing the drive to Paro. Afternoon we will visit National Museum, the first of its kind which has a collection from natural history to religious paintings. Visit 17 century Paro Dzong (Fortress) on foot and continue walking through the oldest wooden bridge still in use. Visit Kichu Lhakhang, one from the two oldest temples built in 7th century. Evening stroll old Paro town and peep into some local handicrafts stores. Overnight in Paro, altitude 2200m.

Day 7
Paro sightseeing

In the morning, we will hike to Tiger’s Nest Temple, the most revered temple in the country that literally hangs on a granite cliff overlooking the Paro valley at 900m above the valley floor. The temple is associated with Guru Rimpoche who visited in 8th century and believed to have meditated three months in this cave and converted entire valley into Buddhism. It is 2 hours walk up hill for an average hiker, however it can take our almost entire day too. Evening back to the hotel and relax.

Day 8
Paro – Phuentsholing (175 km, approx 6 hours drive)

After leisurely breakfast drive back to Phuentsholing.

Evening explore Phunetsholing market and city centre.

Overnight at the hotel in Phuentsholing. (Altitude 300m)

Day 9

End of the tour.
